Glenn | OUR FOUNDER

The Orchard Retail Group Founder with nearly 18 years at Cotton On Group.

Glenn played a pivotal role in growing the brand from 178 local stores to over 1,500 stores worldwide operating in 26 countries and still growing. Glenn realised through his later days at Cotton On that his real passion was helping others be successful. He believed his experiences could assist other retailers to grow sustainably by being operationally sound. He decided to set up Orchard Retail Group.

Whether it was through ensuring their Supply Chain can cope with growth or transforming their Network, reviewing a Technology stack to ensure its solid, or creating the capability to grow through having the right support partners in place.

Countless experiences in new markets, with not much more than a mobile phone for support, has ensured a deep understanding of what it takes to open in a new market.

He loves nothing more than seeing a business evolve or transform to be successful, or open in a new market - in his words "that’s the fun stuff"

A hunger for details and curious mind lead Barnaby to graduate with an honors degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Supporting this however saw him moonlight in Retail logistics for a major retailer in Australia that quickly once graduated saw him move into operational roles leading to solid career leading retail logistics and 3PL operations in Australia and the UK. When it came time for a Global 3PL to set up a pioneering Lean program in Europe his curious and questioning nature came into its own (He’d always known he wasn’t happy with a just a couple of “whys” now he was vindicated with LEAN and the famous five why’s!). This then saw a Global program rolled out in Logistics with a Lean focus that would see Barnaby apply these skills to over 60 Warehouse sites across the world through many industries in his career. Barnaby has Lead LEAN cultural improvements across Automative, Retail, Mining, FMCG and Electronics with three employers and now continues in our Orchard Engagements.

Who doesn’t like a good plan?

Still curious on the mechanics of businesses, and following rolling out a Logistics Improvement program for a Global Australian Beer, Wine and spirits business, Barnaby was asked to then then moved into Supply Chain Planning leading the Planning and Inventory functions, and supporting Program management activities for key Supply Chain Change Projects. This theme continued back into Retail where for a Global Retailer again saw his skills applied initially to resetting processes and building an improvement function for Logistics onto a build and reset of its 9 distribution centers across the globe. This involved complex WMS implementations and automation uplifts. Subsequently Barnaby has written the playbook on moving large footprint multi channel customer focused DCs successfully at least cost and minimal impact.

Planning, Program management and right sized logistics solutions is now where Barnaby is focused with our Orchard Customers.
